You bought a garment
with this label on it?
That means you can be sure it's a quality item made right here in Australia by someone who earned a fair wage in decent conditions
Experience:
I studied a Bachelor of Fashion & Textiles Design at UTS and since graduating in 1995 I have worked as a Designer/Patternmaker for several small fashion labels before joining the Cue Team 7 years ago.
Skilled at:
Tucks, cowls, frills, drape, asymmetric and good fit. Juggling more than one thing at a time and loving it.
Why did you choose to work in fashion / textiles?
Fashion wasn’t ever a choice. From when I was a girl making dresses for my dolls that they ‘sold’ in their boutiques, I knew fashion was what I had to do. For as long as I can remember I enjoy looking at a garment and trying to work out in my mind what shape is needed to make it - like a puzzle. Fashion and Patternmaking was a natural progression.
Best thing about the job?
Fashion is always changing, every week there is something new, exciting and inspiring. It is very satisfying to work on a quality product that you know someone will love! Working with and training young Patternmakers and Designers to keep the skills in Australia is key to the success of Cue and why I am proud to work here.
Favorite item of clothing?
My Cue peplum Jacket from the 40th Anniversary “Recollection” range. Great design and quality never go out of fashion.
Best designer ever:
So hard to decide… Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Prada, all for their technical genius and ability to step away from the ordinary. The best designer I have ever worked with is Cue Head Designer Prue Rainey for the same reasons.
